What is a scooter?
A scooter is defined as a two-wheeled vehicle with a continuous chassis and a foot platform. They were developed in the early 1900s and have gained a lot of popularity since their inception.
Scooters have a small engine which provides all the propulsion of the vehicle, with cylinders ranging from 50 to 250 CC. They generally use small wheels, about 10 inches, and use an electrical charging system that powers the lights and ignition system.
What are the differences between a scooter and a motorcycle?
Although their function is the same, the construction of each one is different. On the other hand, the Scooters have a similar platform for feet that allows driving seated, while the motorcycles have lateral pedals to those of a bicycle. Most Scooters have a cylinder between 50 and 250 CC. at most, while motorcycles can easily exceed that displacement.
The size of the tires of a scooter does not exceed 16 inches, while conventional motorcycles use tires larger than 16 inches. Scooters come with a manual transmission while motorcycles generally come with a manual transmission, although automatics are also found.
What are the advantages of using a scooter?
The scooter is a great option for people who travel through the city, since it is an excellent means of transportation. One of the main advantages is its comfort, since it allows the driver to drive while seated just as he would in a car. Compared to conventional motorcycles, they do not have visible chains that could stain or dirty the user.
Scooters require much less maintenance than a motorcycle, since the chain does not need to be greased and its transmission, when closed, requires almost no maintenance. You just have to be up-to-date with oil, brake and variation changes.
These vehicles are small, agile and comfortable, allowing you to park almost anywhere, as well as move easily through city traffic, something that not all motorcycles can offer.
For whom is it better to buy a scooter?
Although for experienced drivers a scooter is not the best option, there is a type of public for which the scooter may be the best option. Among these people, we can find first-time drivers, including teenagers (recommended between 14 and 17 years). In this way, they can have a first experience on two wheels.
On the other hand, it can also be an alternative for experienced drivers who need a small vehicle to get around specific areas of the city, avoiding traffic and having the opportunity to park practically anywhere in the city. Most of the current scooters are electric, so they are an ecological alternative.
A small vehicle to move around the city
The scooter is not the fastest two-wheeled vehicle, but its lack of speed makes it equal to its versatility, comfort and size, which makes it the perfect vehicle to move freely around the city, in a practical, safe and very comfortable way. If you want to have a first experience on two wheels, a Yamaha scooter is perfect for you.
